The Israelite's
had lived in Egypt for a period of four hundred and thirty years. The lived forty
years as slaves in Egypt. Working hard in the fields doing all the hard labor
since the Egyptians didn’t like them.
This
was a long period of suffering and turmoil. They groaned and waited for God’s
deliverance. God sent a deliverer to them. God revealed his power to the Egyptians
but Pharaoh hardened his heart. Instead he considered all the hard labor they
were doing and saw that no one else was best suited for the work, so he delayed
their deliverance.
God
kept on manifesting his great miracles to them; He made the Nile river turn into
blood but Pharaoh did not consent to this, he sent them frogs, locusts filled
the land of Egypt. He rained down hailstorms from heaven still Pharaoh’s heart
was hardened. He sent boils to the Egyptian households, darkness filled the
land yet Pharaoh did not let them go until God killed the entire first born of
the Egyptians. This sent a great outcry in the land of Egypt and finally Pharaoh
let God’s people; the Israelite's go to worship him.
When
the Israelite's left Egypt, God did not allow them to leave empty handed he made
them request for articles of silver, gold and clothing. They were richly
supplied.
This
story encourages us not to throw in the towel no matter how long you may have
waited for deliverance or maybe a blessing in your life. Believe that God will
finally send his deliverance and also grant you much spoils as he did for the
Israelite's.
